首里城は、 琉球王国の 王城として、 那覇港を 見下ろす 丘に 建てられ、 「万国津梁」—— 世界の架け橋—— として 独自の 文化を 築いてきました。
Shuri Castle, royal seat of the Ryukyu Kingdom, stood on a hill overlooking Naha Port. Known as "Bankoku Shinryo" — Bridge Between Nations — it was the cradle of a unique Okinawan culture.
令和元年 未明、 正殿 内部から 発生した 火災は、 約11時間 燃え続け、 9施設を 焼失させました。 首里城にとって 450年の 歴史で 5度目の 火災でした。
In the early hours of October 31, 2019, a fire burned for 11 hours, destroying 9 structures. For Shuri Castle, with 450 years of history, this was the fifth time it had fallen to flames.
復興の テーマは 「見せる 復興」。 見学デッキから 職人の 技を 間近で 見られる。 正殿の 塗装工事は 約14ヶ月、 26工程に 及びます。
The revival theme is "Restoration on Display." From viewing decks, visitors can watch master craftspeople at work. The painting of the Seiden alone involves 26 processes over 14 months.
遺跡発掘で 龍の髭が 見つかり、 アメリカで 歴代の王の 肖像画が4枚 発見された。 過去の 記憶が、 復興の タイミングに 次々と 現れている。
Dragon whiskers were unearthed during excavation, and four royal portraits were discovered in America. Pieces of the past are appearing, one by one, just as the revival gathers momentum.

首里城は 今回を 含め5度 蘇ってきた。 城壁に 刻まれた 記憶は、 32世代・42億人の DNAを 繋ぐ 大切な 橋です。
Including this fire, Shuri Castle has risen five times. The memories inscribed in its stones are a vital bridge connecting 32 generations and 4.2 billion people through shared DNA.
